The ferry trip over to Ireland was like a bad dream. There were children howling and vomiting everywhere.... bottles and glasses flying around in the bar....the sound of smashing glass was very reassuring. Staff were offering us water and sick bags. It was definitely rough out there.
Overall, the charity shops in Ireland were a bit disappointing. We saw one called " Touched by Suicide" and in Cork there was a Vinnies ( St Vincent de Paul ) selling clothes donated by Michael Flatley ....including his Lord of the Dance jacket.
We did some extreme camping on the trip. High winds and heavy rain tested our tent to its limits. Our new sleeping bags performed well and kept us toasty.
The traditional live music was entertaining.... we went to Matt Molloys in Westport... a famous bar owned by one of the Chieftans. We watched Ireland lose to France in a pub in Galway.
Interesting places we visited included Cork, Sligo, Galway, Clifden, Listowel, Westport and the amazing Connemera region. There we visited Roundstone and found a man making and selling his own amazing pottery. I wanted to buy everything but had to make do with one small piece.
Dublin was very busy....we enjoyed the art galleries and shopping.
The ferry trip home was a lot calmer.... travelling through the night we got into our own bed at 3.45 am.
