On Saturday Ros and I went shopping in Manchester. Ros bought a lovely dress and jacket from Kendals to wear at Mike and Catherines wedding. It was great to spend some time together in a mother/daughter kind of way.x
Hettie is the most beautiful horse. When you aren t around horses much .. Hettie seems enormous. She is well looked after by Laura....and has a great life on the farm and in the field on Second Avenue.
My collection of sock monkeys has now doubled to 2.....after I found this small green one in SFMOMA. Obviously they are quite different. But both have that sock monkey charm....and slightly drunk/glazed over look, on their faces. What are they thinking about???
"Fred Dibnahs Made In Britain" on BBC2 last night...followed Fred on his tour of Britains industrial past...aboard his beloved 1912 steam traction engine. He was also on his way to Buckingham palace to meet the Queen and to collect his MBE. Shortly after the programme was made Fred died. Fred Dibnah was a true northern character.
We visited the fantastic Wales Millennium Centre today with Dave and Anna...back from their travels. It opened back in Nov 04...when I took this photograph...but I think only now is it starting to come together. There is a really nice atmosphere as you walk around the building...its not too arty farty and stuffy. The shop now sells postcards with the centre on. They have free, live music and performances for people to watch. I am proud to have this building almost at the end of the road....its great for Cardiff and Wales.
Wigan Athletic have just been promoted to The Premiership and its an amazing achievement. They will be playing Chelsea and Man Utd....and hoping that they can compete with the big boys. Good luck to them. Going through some old stuff this week...I came across a first day cover from 23 Aug 1978, commemorating Wigans first home game in Division Four of the Football League. They played Grimsby Town at Springfield Park. I thought...brilliant...this will make us a fortune on EBay. But no!!!! I think it would probably make £5.00. Never mind... maybe one day Wigan Athletic will win the Premiership...and this tatty envelope will rocket in value????
This is one of many old photographs I have rounded up over the years. I think we were on holiday in Angelsey...we went there quite a lot. If Martin was around today, he would be 30 years old...and I hope we would be good friends. Looking at this photograph..is like looking into another lifetime. x
Terence has had his beard for over 12 months now...and its been a real success. If he shaved it off in the bath tonight , I would be really upset!!!. Terence has a beard pruning kit..which he uses to keep things under control. But when we go away , he leaves it to go wild and bushy. I cant imagine Terence without his beard now....I think it really suits him.
It was hot and sunny in the park.Herons were striking strange poses, and there were lots of ducks to feed. It was great to spend time with Mark and Lou....they are always scheming those two.x
