Deer drama

On thursday evening, we saw a deer lie down in the long grass in our field and a few minutes later she stood up and a tiny little baby deer hopped about next to her.....they headed off across the field and into the woods. It was a really lovely thing to see.
The next day though she came came back on her own... stamping at the ground where the baby was born and running around obviously looking for it. Oh dear... I hope they found each other later.

On Friday night we walked over to the pub through the woods.... on the way we saw lots of churned up earth and animal footprints by big puddles of water. We had a feeling there may be wild boar in the area.
A bit further on we got our first ever real sighting of the boar.... a big group moving around below us in the woods. It was very exciting but then a bit frightening as one of them spotted us and seemed to be heading towards us....grunt grunt!!! Lets just say we started to walk a bit quicker and decided to take an alternative route home!!! We managed to take a few photographs and have been spreading the word with the neighbours that there are definitely wild boar in the area..... breaking news!!!

It was a busy friend filled weekend....with Mark and Cathy and Lou and all the kids coming to see us. We had a bbq and went down to the music festival and then marked Fathers Day on Sunday with a big breakfast, a walk in the woods and a roast dinner and lemon meringue pie.

Glasgow

We flew up to Glasgow on Thursday evening for a couple of days away and a Half Man Half Biscuit concert or gig as Tel likes to say???  The flight was nt too bad.... only an hour in the air and beautiful sunset views over Glasgow as we landed. The hotel was nice .. there was an oversized roll top bath and a double monsoon shower in the bathroom. We walked miles across the city. We visited the Botanic Gardens twice .... It is a lovely spot with the amazing Kibble Palace and lovely snack bar... Excellent bacon rolls and great big chunks of cake. The "gig" was really good...it was 20 years since Tel had seen them as a student in Newport....they finished with "Joy Division Oven Gloves" ....a classic tune. We enjoyed looking around Glasgow. It was hot and sunny and the taxi drivers were very chatty.
