"Twitter alone has given me retinal migraine issues and cajoled me into believing I am a free thinking revolutionary fanning the flames of liberty in Iran, Libya and Syria..... when in fact I am just a woman in pyjamas, hugging an intel Pentium processor, waiting for Ocado to deliver more olives. Yum yum slurp."

Time Lapse: Puppy to Adult in 40 seconds. Dunder

Today

Today was all about vegetable patches, churchyards, a nose bleed, a rabbit, delicious (participant made) chocolate brownies and trying to work out if Tel would have a flight home from Sweden tonight.

Reflectors

"Reflectors like to stand back and ponder experiences and observe them from many different perspectives.Their philosophy is to be cautious. They are thoughtful people who like to consider all possible angles and implications before making a move. They prefer to take a back seat in meetings and discussions. They tend to adopt a low profile and have a slightly distant, tolerant and unruffled air about them. They listen to others. When they act it is part of a wider picture which includes the past aswell as the present."

Bee on the chive flowers

We spent most of the day in the garden today.... planting broccoli and runner beans in the veg patch, cutting back the nettles and grass, raking up hundreds of small/dead branches from the willow and working on the earth steps. Tel has made good progress with the steps and has almost reached the gate at the top of the garden.

The English Market. Cork.

The Queen ended her trip to Ireland today with a visit to The English Market in Cork.
Cork is a fantastic city.... we loved it when we visited a few years ago.
Wonder if the Queen enjoyed a cup of coffee up on the balcony in the market hall?

Haircut

I dont go to the hairdressers very often... today was my first visit in 8 months.
It was an enjoyable experience today.... and I really should go back soon to have some highlights put in.
I picked up some helpful tips from Paul.... how to dry my hair by brushing it over to the wrong side.... and then back over to the right side. This will create natural volume and style.

Jeremy Irons

I saw Jeremy Irons yesterday.... he had parked a classic motorbike at the side of the road... and was on his mobile phone. Around him was a group of glamourous but casual people.... probably his assistants. He went into the health food shop.
I wondered if he was filming around here. I looked him up when I got home and found this brilliant painting of him and his family by artist Zita Davisson.

Tel spent most of the day on the summerhouse roof yesterday.... nailing and glueing the roof felt into place. Its the sort of thing you see on rabbit hutches and sheds. It has a 15 year guarantee.
It feels good to get the roof done.
Still to do are the windows, doors, flooring and the outer cladding. Tel would like to get hold of some reclaimed boards for the outside.

Vegeware

The Vegeware has arrived.
A big cardboard box filled with "biodegradable products made from renewable materials".
We now have organic, recyclable and free range!!!! plates, bowls, cups, knives, forks, spoons and serviettes for the party in August.
We have ordered the bread rolls from Wigmores Bakery, the sausages from a local farm and the beer from a small local brewery.
We are slowly working our way through a list of things to do....its sort of exciting stroke very scary. At least the Vegeware has arrived.

Loudon Wainwright III - Another Song in C

We had a great time at St Davids Hall on Wednesday night... watching Loudon and his daughter Lucy in concert. Loudon was wonderful as always... he played the guitar, ukelele and piano.
His favourite subject matters are death, despair and family.
I wished I d taken a hanky with me when he sat down at the piano to perform this very moving song.

Backwards in High Heels

I enjoy following the blog "Backwards in High Heels" by Tania Kindersley. She is a writer and she blogs about her life in Scotland, her dogs and topical events. She also posts lovely photos.
In the past week she has lost her Father and today she writes that her dog "The Duchess" has also died. She writes beautifully and very movingly about losing them both.

Jewellery

Whilst cleaning and tidying the bedroom today (it was well overdue)... I realized just how much jewellery (and scarves) I have.
It comes in 3 main sections.... earrings, brooches and necklaces. (I have never been into bracelets or bangles). I also discovered a small selection of rings which I should start wearing now that I grow my nails and look after my hands a bit more.
I can almost always link a piece of my jewellery to a person or a place.

I have raided the charity shops this week.... and my fav buy was this beautiful black and green shawl.

CITO (Chuck in the oven)

A snippet from The Long Pass, February 1990.
"Recipe Ros"
"This week we have the quick and easy recipe of cheesy toast with bacon, in lay mans terms, the Jill Ormesher staple diet.
Ingredients....
2 shives of bread
half a pound of cheese
1 pig
Directions.....
Open the oven door and chuck all the ingredients in.
Cook at gas mark 6 for 3 weeks.
Get a spade and shovel it on to a plate.

The spelling in this early edition of The Long Pass was appalling. Mike (the chairman of the JMFC) said he didnt have spellcheck on his typewriter back then.

The magical Himalayan blue poppy.
It cost a small fortune at the garden centre but it is beautiful. "It is a perennial plant that needs protection from strong sunlight. It flowers from April to May with strong sky blue flowers and yellow stamens."
