It was great to see Bob Dylan in Cardiff on Tuesday night.
There was no support act and no interval. Bob and his band were on stage for over 2 hours. Bob was on the keyboard and harmonica in the corner...and his band were all stood facing towards him. The lighting was great. Right at the end he moved to the front and centre of the stage to great applause. He looked quite frail.
When he sang Like a Rolling Stone there was genuine excitement in the crowd and it was great to be there.

All weather walk.

All weather walk.

Sophie, Mauri and Teo came up for the day yesterday...and we went out for a walk. Mauri carried Teo on his back. Along the way we spotted lots of baby lambs, 11 ducklings, pheasants and rabbits. We had lots of sun, wind and rain. Sophie picked some wild garlic to take home....it was very smelly.

Art Base

For the past few weeks I have been supporting one of my participants at an art group in a local church hall. It has been really enjoyable and fun and we have produced lots of pieces of work...mostly in watercolour.
There will be a small exhibition in May and on Monday we had to start a piece that we could mount, frame and enter in the exhibition.
Most people started to do landscapes. I decided to draw a deer in pencil....and then added some pale colour to it when I got home. It isnt on watercolour paper so it has gone a bit crinkly....and putting watercolour over pencil can look a bit strange....but I am really pleased with it.
Seeing the deer in our garden and all around us, has really inspired me to draw and paint again.

Malvern

We had a great day out in Malvern yesterday. The weather was sunny and the Malvern Hills looked beautiful.
We bought lots of second hand items from charity shops and antiques places. Had a general mooch about.
We had a meal in Benedictos Italian Restaurant...it deserves a mention as the staff were so lovely and the food was good too...and then we went over to the Malvern Theatre to watch comedian Dave Spikey. The theatre was very impressive for such a small town and set in a lovely park. There was a nice atmosphere....and it rounded off a happy day out.

Complicated grief

I remember sitting in my bedroom in April 1989, watching the FA Cup semi final at Hillsborough. Later in the evening I remember watching the news reports from Liverpool Lime Street station as hundreds of relatives gathered, hoping to see their husband or child getting off the trains arriving from Sheffield. It was so shocking and so sad .... and it is still shocking and sad today.
When Liverpool fans gathered to sing You ll Never Walk Alone this week.... it felt as if Hillsborough was only yesterday.. and we were suddenly taken back 20 years.
Five years, 10 years or 20 years....the shock and sadness of losing someone is always there...and a part of us will always wonder why it had to happen and what life would be like if they were still with us. You could feel the sadness and the grief in Liverpool this week.

Word Up by Cameo

I think we need to see Cameo performing this on GMTV every morning.
We need to dance.

Cardiff Bay from Penarth

We had a lovely day in Cardiff on Sunday.
We called in at Pete and Catherines to meet the new baby....Nathaniel. They were all relieved and happy to be home after a stressful time in hospital.
Tel and Pete went off to sail and I took some photos around Penarth.
We went to Cathy and Grahams for tea. Prawns and noodles....very chi chi.
Graham has built a swing in the garden for Rhosyn and it looked great. Rhosyn will soon be 4 and is growing up and changing all the time. We talked about going "Under the thatch" together sometime.....its a welsh holiday company that rents out lovely cottages!!!

There is good news and bad news in the garden.
The Eucalyptus tree is doing really well and is growing very quickly.
The wisteria above the front door is covered in flower buds for the first time in 3 years..... it should look amazing in a month or so.
The shrubs in the border are coming on well .....Josephs magnolia bush is beautiful.
Unfortunately the large ceanothus bush at the front seems to have died. It is a rusty brown colour ...and is without its usual shiny green leaves and blue flowers. We have photos of it from the past 3 years...it was such an impressive plant.

Mon Mome

I put my usual couple of bets on the Grand National on friday.... £5 on Cloudy Lane at 40-1.... and £5 on Mon Mome then priced at 66-1. There was much shouting at the tv and jumping around the room as Mon Mome raced away at the end to win the race. I will be off to the betting shop tomorrow to collect my winnings.....brilliant.
