Birthday hat and Birthday cake.

I was working in the morning yesterday...and on a Health and Safety course in the afternoon. Following a very busy weekend .... I was pretty tired last night.
It was nice to have a glass of wine and to open some presents.

I have been remembering my 18th birthday .... when my Mum and Dad arranged a surprise party at Ros and Roys. I had no idea what was going on...and it was a memorable night. The highlight of the evening was when Joe entered the room carrying a bouquet of roses ... he stayed for a while and had his photo taken with everyone.... he was so nice.
Since then I have "celebrated" 20 birthdays without my Mum Dad and Martin. Thats 20 years without a card or a phone call. Even though I know they are always with me ... I really have missed those things. x

James keeps an eye on Harold, The Fat Controller and Thomas.

It was a busy weekend ...visiting Auntie Edna.... having lunch with Ros and Roy and going out on Saturday night with Mum, Paul, Laura, Jenny and Richard.

Auntie Edna didnt really recognise us this time....and she seemed very confused about things. We wished her Happy Birthday. The staff said she is doing fine but her memory is getting worse all the time. She says she is happy in the home and I am relieved that she is being looked after in a safe place.x
We had a lovely lunch with Ros Roy and Jane. Mike and Catherine came down with the kids and it was good to see them. James was playing with his train set ... and Matthew was very smiley.
On Sat night we went out to a carvery at a local hotel to celebrate lots of birthdays. There was a big party there celebrating Nana McDougalls 80th birthday...she got up to dance to Simply The Best and all her family circled around her. It was nice for us all to go out together in the build up to Jennys wedding.

A 5 in 1 Calcu Measure of course.
Its a tape measure...a calculator.....a pencil.... a memo pad and a spirit level all in one. Its genius.

A friend from Tels office rang me yesterday to say they didnt know what to buy him as a birthday present.....did I have any ideas. All I could think of was a tool belt. This caused much laughter amongst his work mates. They ended up buying him a t shirt.

Was Tel a carpenter in a previous life?

One board at a time.

Its been a good week. A week off work and time to catch up with jobs at home.
Tel has made really good progress putting the boards up on the garage. It looks great ... as if we now have a completely new building. Our next door neighbour said it looks like a log cabin. A bit of paint on the windows and a "feature" on the door... and we have done a pretty good job altogether.
We took a break from the cladding on Thursday to drive to Hay on Wye for the day. It was market day and we found a man selling really cheap second hand items. We bought an old gate for £10 and a wooden plant stand for £5. Hay on Wye has mostly independent shops and famously many book shops. Its a nice place to visit for a day out.

St Davids Day

Jim Lisa Iwan and Luke....Cathy Graham and The Rhos.... and Mark ...all came to visit on Saturday. We spent most of the day cycling along the river...in a big convoy. Rhosyn was attatched to the back of Grahams bike by a metal pole with a little bike on the end. She held on like a trouper for most of the day....and only fell off once. It was very dramatic but she recovered well.
We sat down to a meal later when the kids had gone to bed. Lots of red wine went around and Tel got out his dodgy selection of whiskies. Mark left at about 11pm to drive back to Nottingham. It was lovely to see him and to have him with us for the day.
Sunday was St Davids Day. Iwan and Luke had their Wales rugby tops on and Lisa wore a little leek badge. We blew up an inflatable daffodil and leek..and took some photos of the kids. We drove down to Tintern Abbey , took advantage of the free entry and had a look around. There was a lady telling traditional Welsh stories and playing the violin. We stopped for lunch and then headed home.
It was lovely to see everyone.

Next time we should move on from cycling... and go for canoeing!!!!
