Mid week.... off peak....

...is the best time to go away we think. You cant rely on the weather but it will be quieter and less crowded wherever you are.
We enjoyed our week in The Lakes. We stayed in a cottage in Keswick...just behind a nightclub called "Rumours". Ros and Roy joined us for the first 2 days and gave us lots of tips on the best walks and things to do in the area.
Saturday..... Ros and Roy treated us to a meal at Morrells.
Sunday....we walked around the lake at Buttermere.
Monday.... we walked up Latrigg.
Tuesday.... drove to Muncaster Castle to visit the World Owl Trust.
Wednesday.... walked up Catbells in glorious weather.
Thursday.... I went shopping... Terence climbed Haystacks!!!
Friday.... visited Ambleside and the drove home a day early as the weather was pretty bad.
My best bits were climbing up Catbells and visiting the owls.
The 2 charity shops in Keswick were very overpriced.
The pubs were good... Terence tried lots of local ales and had Hungarian Goulash in The Dog and Gun.
We shopped in Booths... this is Roys favourite place.
It is easy to see why The Lake Disrict is so popular..... it has a real charm of its own.
