The dots flip between black and silver and create beautiful waves as they move across the surface. There is a clip of it in action on Youtube..... it is very beautiful.

Our neighbour Louise celebrated her 40th birthday on sat night, with a party at the village hall. It was a lovely evening. The live music was provided by The Ronaldos....lead singer is Ron Rogers who was in T Pau in the 80s. They are very good.... they have an old carpet, electric fire and flashing standard lamps as props. They did The Swimming Song by Loudon Wainwright. Everyone was given pop bottles filled with bird seed to use as shakers..... this is a great idea for a party.... for young and old alike.

Thats when good Neighbours become good friends.

Oh dear..... its bad news.
In 2 weeks time... Neighbours moves from BBC1 to Channel5.
The BBC decided that they wouldnt put in a bid last year.... and Channel5 secured the rights with a £300million 10 year deal.
So after 21 years , Neighbours is on the move.
Its bad enough that we dont have Channel5 here, and I wont be able to watch it anymore... but it is being replaced with The Weakest Link!!!!
Its sad news all round.

tears for fears -head over heels

A slice of 1985. Its a great song.

Wild boar tracks.

We have found evidence of wild boar.... just over the fence at the top of the field. The ground has been turned over in a line at the edge of the path and there are fallen branches that have been stripped by tusks. This photo that we took on sunday, shows the footprint of a boar.
It would be brilliant to see them roaming about up there... but I would still make a swift run for it!!!

Photo shoot.

Our friend Declan works on a well known mens magazine in London.... and recently, he took part in a photo shoot with Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt. This is very exciting news.
The strange thing is that the photo I blogged recently (Noel in leather jacket and red hat) was taken at that very shoot.I had no idea about this.... and picked it from the web, because I thought it was a great photo.
Another strange coincidence involving Declan.
Next time we see him, I want to hear the full story on the day he met Noel.

Lasagne

I spoke to Ang on the phone today. We are arranging a get together in a few weeks time. Ang has 2 little ones now...Joseph and Florence.. and a very busy life. Since the kids came along, she has gone out and made lots of new friends and takes part in lots of "parent and children" things. Richard does a lot of training for his triathlons and Iron Man competitions and Ang supports him in this. They go to The Lakes for holidays and over to Newcastle to see the grandparents. I am really impressed with how organized Ang is and how much she is enjoying being a Mum.
We are going to stay for tea when we go up to visit... Ang said "shall I make you a lasagne?"
Those few words warmed my heart.

I ve been working on this painting over the last 3 days. The terrible weather outside meant that I could settle down and put some time in to this piece. It is a male bullfinch and he has a seed in his mouth. I bought a tin of yellow spray paint for the background and have done a small collage at the bottom. I m really enjoying painting the various birds that we see in our garden.... I have also done a pheasant and a woodpecker.

Matthew John has arrived.

Mike and Catherine had a baby boy in the early hours this morning. Congratulations to them all.x
Also today.... Happy Birthday wishes to Laura. x

Cate Blanchett in I'm Not There.

We watched "Im Not There" at the Watershed in Bristol on Wednesday night. Bob Dylan appears in the film in the form of six different people. It was confusing at times but very enjoyable.... and of course the music sounded great.

12 months in our garden.

Below, are 2 of the many photos that Terence has taken over the past 12 months. He has taken them all from exactly the same spot on the decking.... the aim was to show how much our garden changes as the months go by. He tried to go out there every Saturday. Sometimes we were away ... and sometimes we forgot! Sometimes we took the photo on a Sunday! Obviously in December the Christmas tree disappeared from the shot. He has now put them all together and has sent an order off to Photobox. We are hoping to put them up on a wall, in a sort of A Level stylee.

The day we saw the beady eyes by James Williams Aged 10.

"The day we saw the beady eyes was 1/1/08 when we were walking through the forest to meet Terry and Dad. The forest was very muddy and there was lots of streams and we saw a couple of dogs. We walked up the hill and we walked across the graveyard. We went back to the forest and saw two beady eyes and one horn. Mum (you know how gullible she is) said it was okay because the THING had a collar."
