I agree that it's not necessarily a bad thing to have only 4 channels. As a kid growing up in middle-class America in the 60s, we only had 3 channels....and still we had to make a real effort to watch all of the good shows.
Today......well, I gave up on cable tv. I am now video only. And I rarely miss all those "wonderful" choices.
