No photos.

Charlotte and Ang came to stay on Friday and Saturday....and during the whole time they were here, I didnt take a single photograph!!!!! How strange!!!!
Ang is half way through pregnancy number 2 and is looking great.
On Saturday night we went to a local theatre and watched "The Vagina Monologues".... it was really entertaining.
We went to the pub for lunch and they both fell asleep on the couch when we got back. When they came to stay last year they both fell asleep outside on the grass.....it must be the country air!!!!!
We flicked through celebrity mags looking for possible names for the new baby.....!!!!

I have picked out a particularly nice photo of the 3 of us, taken at Josephs christening in July 05. x

Crows with ASBOS.

We are under attack at the moment from pesky crows!!!!!
It started last weekend, when we were woken at about 7am by a loud banging upstairs. When I went to have a look, I found 3 big, greasy crow shapes on 3 of the windows and a crow on the decking, pecking at the window frames. This has been happening a lot since then....yesterday it was about 7am again and this morning too!!!!! They are obviously not happy with our windows. They keep flying into them....and then try to cause as much damage as they can, by pecking at them.
It could be time to get the old, broken and spinning CD s out.....and Tel said hes seen a plastic crow in a local shop that might work.

Pivotal People.

"You have encountered hundreds, maybe even thousands , of people in your life who have had an impact, yet research has shown that there are as few as five truly pivotal people who have left indelible impressions on your concept of self and therefore the life you live.
Pivotal people can be found in unexpected places and in unexpected stages of your life. They may include someone you encountered today. Perhaps they entered your life for a short time before moving on, yet you still carry, today, the effects of that encounter. They may open up opportunities you didnt know existed or unravel for you a problem you thought had no solution. They can be people who love you when you are not very lovable.
Who are the five pivotal people in your life? Who are the five people who have shaped the self concept that controls your life today, both positive and negative? Who has written on the "slate of you"? "

We went for a walk.....it was muddy and slippy but good to be out in the fresh air. On sat night we played trivial pursuit till 1 am.....it was the final match of 3, that we began in NZ 2 years ago. Dave and Tel steamed ahead, getting lots of questions right..... but they struggled to get their final piece of pie in the art and literature section....and me and Anna staged a comeback to win the game. It was SNOW fun on friday!!!!!!

Friday was a tricky day.
Driving conditions around here were really bad due to the heavy snow. A journey that would normally take 40 mins...took me almost 4 hours ( thanks to a broken down lorry on a hill. ) At home we had another power cut.....this time the electricity and heating was off for 13 hours. Jenny and Richard arrived for the weekend .... to a dark and cold house. There was nothing else to do but to head for the pub for some food ( and drink!!!) One of our pubs had power and the other didnt. They were still serving beer though by candlelight...it was a strange day and night all round.
On saturday we ventured out for a walk....it was really beautiful in the snow.
Of course, the snow had all gone yesterday....and it was back to normal today.

I was sure that I saw a big black shape moving through the trees at the top of the field today. Then a group of deer came running at full pelt across the field...they looked a bit frightened. Tel said " I ll go and investigate". He took the camera and went off into the snow. He headed for the gap in the trees that I pointed to. He took the above photo in that spot.
Tel would love to spot a big cat....he s started a file in I Photo called "Tracks".

Watching.

Dodgy TV......
Charlie Brooker writes about Fortune, Million Pound Giveaway
"Basically its an hour of people desperately pleading for cash, with a cheering audience lobbed in for good measure. Presumably, its supposed to be "feelgood TV", but in reality, seeing people in wheelchairs beg Jeffery Archer for money just doesnt warm the cockles."

Good TV....
Relocation Relocation with Kirsty and lovely, lovely, lovely Phil.
Deal or No Deal.....the dream factory and the crazy chair.
Ugly Betty.
Grow Your Own Veg.
An Island Parish.

We still only have 4 channels here....but thats not a bad thing really.

Oh, its a gem of a cassette.
And only £1 from Oxfam.
The hits are all there....Cant Wait Another Minute, The Slightest Touch, and my all time favourite...Rain or Shine.
It takes me back to the days of No Limits...and great 80s pop music.
Maybe 5 Star will reform and make a comeback. I would love that.

Chairs.

We got up v early yesterday and drove down to Somerset. Roger and his brothers are clearing out his Mum and Dads holiday chalet....as it has recently been sold....and we had arranged to take the 4 chairs from the living room....and give them a good home, back here in our living room. The chairs are a similar "ercol" style to the dining table and chairs I bought last year.....and they fit in really well here. They are quite low to the ground and very comfortable. This is the real joy of recycled / second hand furniture.....especially when you know the people / place that the furniture previously belonged to. Thankyou Roger and family.

We stopped at Dunster Beach in search of a bacon butty....and took the above photo.
