Santa Baby.

We spent 4 days "up north" this Christmas.
We all put in a lot of effort. It felt like an important Christmas ...in a lot of different ways.
It was especially lovely and memorable, to be with James on his first Christmas Day.

After a really gloomy week of weather.....we had the most fantastic bright and sunny 2 days at the weekend. The mist in the valley was really beautiful....it was so great to see the sunshine.
On Saturday we invited a few of our neighbours round for a mince pie and a glass of Christmas cheer. Tel dug out an old book called "Beverages" and made some "spiced wine".....holy moley.... it puts mulled wine in the shade!!!! It was like Keith Floyd had arrived ...watching Tel measure out his cloves and his cinnamon sticks!!!!

Camera.

Our new digital camera has arrived....hooray.
We ordered it from Amazon last week...along with some CD s and books.
So we were expecting a big box, Amazon stylee, to be delivered...or a note pushed through to say it had been taken back to the Post Office.
We were not expecting to find it outside on the front step!!!!! ......a slightly ripped and damp cardboard box!!!!

We dont want to know.....

We went to Bath today to see Dave and have a looky around the shops and the Christmas markets. Dave and Anna have very kindly let me borrow their little video camera, so I can do some filming around the house, garden, field etc. I am so chuffed.

As we were leaving, Dave said he would text us his movements over Christmas......eeeeewwwww!!!!!!

Wind and rain.

Okay.....now we ve had enough rain....and we ve definitely had enough wind.
A tree came down at the top of the field.....narrowly missing the power lines.
The ground is sodden ....and the road through the village is covered in stones. mud and bits of trees.
There were wind speeds not far from here of almost 100mph at the weekend. I know...because I was awake all night...convinced we were going to lose part of the roof. Blimey.
Can we have a dry and sunny day please????

An oil painting left in a Chepstow charity shop sold for £8,000 at auction last week. An eagle eyed volunteer in the St Davids Foundation shop spotted the painting by Julian Trevelyan, took it home to do some research on the internet and contacted Sotheby's in London to get a valuation.
Well done that woman. The money will be put towards the hospice-at-home running costs, providing care for patients in their own homes.
