Wigan 14 St Helens 28
It was great to be at The JJB on Saturday night, to watch the big match.Wigan are currently at the bottom of the Superleague and St Helens are at the top. The Saints fans were singing...."going down, going down" and the Wigan fans were singing "staying up, staying up".The atmosphere was brilliant....apart from a bit of beer throwing near us. Wigans new player, Michael Dobson was my man of the match....definite glimpses of Shaun Edwards.
Wigan really do need to start winning some games, or they will be relegated at the end of this season. That would be a very sad day for such a great club.

Auntie Edna.
I called in to see Auntie Edna on sunday afternoon. Its funny ...I always feel better after I ve seen her. We were laughing about this and that...and she didnt seem as confused as she has done recently. At the home, they have a bird in a cage....and Auntie Edna was remembering how when my mum was a little girl, she had a budgie called Beauty.
My brilliant Auntie Edna.
She is a wonderful person.

Bullying...the new entertainment.
In 2000, Big Brother arrived. It was the first and probably the best series. It was innocent and funny...there was Nasty Nick, a couple of stolen kisses and the winner Craig, who won £70,000 and gave it all away to a young girl with downs syndrome.
How things have moved on.
Today Big Brother is far from innocent and definitely not funny.
I know I am old fashioned but is this the way that people behave these days?
Davina keeps calling it 'pantomime' ...but I don t think we should make excuses for bullying.
Watching people winge and moan, and be abusive to others is not my idea of fun.
Its time to say goodbye to Big Brother...its just not entertaining anymore.

Too much rain....
The sun is out today...after a week or so of relentless rain. The other day, someone on tv said..."this is the wettest drought I ve ever known".

Wembley magic.
David Beckham led the England team out at Wembley today.
It was a great moment.
Wembley is still being built....so the team wore hard hats and wellies...and kicked the ball around in the sand.
The workmen cheered as the team walked out. Sometimes you just don t need glitz, glamour and fireworks.....just history and wonderful memories do the trick.
I think it was a great idea to visit Wembley...as the build up to the World Cup gathers momentum.
1966 was English footballs greatest year. They were led by a handsome blonde captain.
Could 2006 be another great year? Good luck to our handsome blonde captain.

Garden centre.
We visited a local garden centre yesterday, to look at shrubs and plants for the garden. We are hoping to buy some bamboo to replace the leylandii and some evergreen shrubs that will reach around 3 to 4 ft. If you want to buy plants that are already a decent height ,prices seem to start at around £30. I think we will buy a couple of these and lots of smaller plants. I would like to put a spiky palm in aswell....they look great.
Also on sale were lots of gnome type things and of course water features.I had to drag Tel away from the 'railway sleeper' section.

Hooray.....Boo.....
Hooray......found a twenty pound note hiding in my purse this morning.
Boo.....received my second job application rejection in a week.
Hooray....i'm enjoying my IT course in Monmouth.
Mixture of Hooray and Boo.....BB7 is upon us. Will there be any goodlooking, straight men in their 30's {with beards} going into the house this year? Probably not. I wish I had the willpower not to watch it....maybe having a more outdoorsy lifestyle now will help...who am I kidding?

Posh cat.
I am trying to find a new cattery in the area, for Wilson to go to when we need to go away in the future.
It has reminded me of the cattery just outside Cardiff, that has looked after Wilson many times over the last 12 years.
It was a lovely place in the countryside...and they played music to the cats.....[ carols of course at christmas]. When we would go to collect Wilson, he always looked a bit stressed out!!!
We always remember taking Wilson to his pen one day...walking along you could see all the names written on chalk boards above each section..."Tiddles", "Patch","Fluffy", "Wilson", and then "Monsieur".
I ve heard some strange cat names...but "Monsieur" ?????

"How hard...Gerrard"
Steven Gerrard can score goals that make you shout "yes". His second goal against West Ham in the FA Cup Final yesterday was a beauty. There is something special about long range goals. Sweet as a nut.
Oh how we pray he can score a goal like that in the World Cup....preferably against Brazil in the final.
Only 4 weeks to go before Englands first game. It really is about time we did well in a major competition...no more excuses.

Under the bridge.
Yesterday we walked to Newland via Highbury Woods with Dave and Anna. It rained heavily on the way home...and we all got very wet.
Today we walked from Bigsweir Bridge to Tintern ...passing these funny sheep along the way.
Being out and about in the fresh air is obviously good exercise...but its also good for the spirit. You can go walking in all seasons and it doesn't cost a penny.

Fire.
Dave and Anna came to stay on Friday night. We took some beers to the top of the field and built a fire. Boys love playing with fire!!!!

Stormy weather.
We took this photo at about 8.30pm last night. We could see the storm approaching down the valley....the clouds were really swirling around. There was thunder and lightning and heavy rain.

Leylandii.
We currently have 3 leylandii in our back garden....and next weekend 2 of them are being cut down.
Before we moved in, the previous owners lopped the tops off them and now they look a bit silly. They are also blocking out a lot of light for our neighbours...so we are taking them down and replacing them with a more interesting and colourful hedgerow.
Luckily it will only take a few big, strong men {and Terence} with a chainsaw to do the job....there are others dotted around the village which would need professional attention.
The 3rd leylandii can stay where it is for now.
We will soon be hiring a sit on lawnmower to tackle the field. Hopefully twice a year will do the trick.
Its a whole new world of gardening for us...we think little and often is the key. Luckily the garden merges into the field...and the field merges into the forrest...so it has a lovely wild look about it. No perfect beds and borders here.
Still...it could be time to buy a petrol strimmer?

Sleepwalking.
My sleep has been very disturbed recently. I have been getting up in the night and walking around the bedroom....pulling back the curtains and "looking" out of the window.I sometimes get up and turn the "big light" on.I am often convinced there is someone with us in the room. Tel says I have been talking a lot aswell. Its not really talking though...its more a strange mumbling!!!!
We do laugh about all this....but I think we would both like a good nights sleep.

David Blaine.
"David Blaine Drowned Alive" is happening as we speak over in New York. He is living in a sphere of water...receiving food and oxygen through a tube...for 7 days and 7 nights. He's a crazy guy.
Nice photo.
Nice photo.
Happy gathering.
Family, friends, children and 2 Mr Robbins gathered on Monday for a little birthday party.
It was a lovely occasion.
There were pressies and cakes.
Happy Birthday was sung in both English and Welsh...and Rhosyn blew out her one candle.x
