19 friends and children and a dog on the Bala Lake Railway

The camping trip to Bala on the Bank Holiday weekend was a lovely occasion and much enjoyed by everyone young and old and canine.
We picked Gareth up on the way on Friday and drove up to Bala to find the campsite. We were very excited to find they had reserved us a whole field for our group in the last field by the river. It was a beautiful spot.
The next day we had a wander to the pub and a halloumi and potato lunch before the rest of the group arrived. Once we were all there, there were 7 tents and a camper van.... 19 humans and a dog. We made a campfire to keep warm. It was freezing that night and very difficult to sleep.
I got up at 7am the next day and headed for an early shower to warm up. On the way back I met Luke and Rhosyn who had found a frozen mole on the track..... that s how cold it had been in the night!!!! Iwan and I did some sketching and later we all boarded the Bala Lake Railway and took a trip into town. We had chips and visited a craft fair and bought hot water bottles to keep us warm on the last night.
It was a bit sad packing up all the camping stuff on Monday morning and saying the goodbyes. How lucky are we to be able to meet up and have lots of laughs and make lots of special memories. We drove back to Bristol to drop Gareth off at the train station and then headed home for a much needed bath and comfy bed.
There was a discussion in the car about next years get together.... possibly a 1980s themed fancy dress/music party at our house...with bonfire and fireworks? Or maybe a meal where we can dress up and wear makeup and look nice? Sounds like a G7 20 years on meet up will definitely be arranged... maybe a revisit to Newport and the 2014 degree show. Or maybe we'll just roll all that up into one great big weekend ? x

Back on line

We have been off line for 2 weeks... after our home hub suddenly stopped working.
Many frustrating phone calls to BT later our new super dooper modem has arrived.
We can now get on with ordering a new bed and mattress and looking into our holiday in Sept.
Its amazing how much we now rely on the internet.

A lovely couple of days with Ang and the kids x

Ang came down to stay for a couple of nights last week and it was lovely to see them all. When they arrived it was our wedding anniversary but Tel was away.... and there was a power cut !!!!
Next day we went to Raglan Castle and had a lovely time climbing the tower and mingling with the Shire of Mynydd Gwyn people who had moved in for a few weeks. Florence looked lovely in my big flowery knitted collar and Joseph enjoyed running around the grounds. We watched a bit of the London Olympics DVD and walked up to see the cabin in the rain!! When Tel got back later we had a cottage pie and a birthday cake for all the birthdays we dont get to spend together.
It was lovely having them all here. My friend of 30 years and her lovely children x

People make photographs not cameras.

"You see more if you are looking.
The more you look the more you see worth photographing.
If you are not thinking and not looking you ll walk past some of the most extraordinary opportunities"

Merely pointing an expensive and masterfully adjusted camera at something doesnt make a good photo. Knowing what you are saying and saying it loud and clear is what makes a strong image people will remember. If it says nothing to you it will say even less to others"

Abersoch

Last week we went to Abersoch for a week as Tel was taking part in the Enterprise Nationals 2013. Mum and Laura met us there ....Paul and Emma stayed a night and Jenny and Richard came over from their campsite in Criccieth. The cottage was lovely, spacious and comfortable and the weather was really nice too...apart from one very wet day when we went to Port Meirion. We spent a lot of time on the beach watching all the various boats and people and dogs and jet planes and shimmering seas and spectacular views in the distance. There was fish and chips and even a knickerbocker glory in an ice cream parlour. We had a look around Criccieth and Pwthelli and got our haircut in Abersoch. Tel and Chris did well in the sailing and finished as the top Penarth boat in the competition... and 28th out of 45 boats overall.
