Bank holiday gardening extravaganza

It was lovely to have the long weekend all to ourselves and the good weather meant we could do lots of jobs in the garden. We pruned the eucalyptus with our new 2 metre pruning saw....had a bonfire on the track....worked on the veg patch and took a trip to the garden centre to buy some wood and flagstones.
Tel has bought himself a chainsaw, special gloves and trousers ( after many years of humming and aaahhhing ) and we are going to chop up all the fallen trees at the top of the field and start seasoning them for the winter. We think it will pay for itself in one or two winters.....sorry Norm The Log we may not need you this year.

Have I forgotten someone?

So I m coming up to 2 months in my new job and I m getting used to how it all works. Everyone has been really helpful and supportive and I ve met some interesting clients and helped them with form filling and shopping. Strangely I keep having a dream that I have forgotten about a client....and they are waiting for me to arrive. I think there may still be some anxiety at the back of my mind about starting a new job!!!!

Ist birthday fun

It was a lovely day in Porthcawl on Saturday and perfect in the garden for Marlene s first birthday party. We joined parents and grandparents and aunties and cousins and friends.... there were lots of presents and a Miffy birthday cake. We also fitted in a walk to the beach and a drink at the pub. Marlene was smiley and happy and we took lots of photos. There is something special about a first birthday party x

Wigan Athletic win the FA Cup

"A lot of pies hit the ceiling in Wigan when that goal went in".....was my favourite quote of the day...following Wigans heroics to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
This was no smash and grab result... Wigan were the better team and it was thrilling and emotional watching the game. They have come a long way since the days of Springfield Park.... lets hope they can avoid relegation in the next few days.

Sailing on Cheddar Reservoir

We set off early yesterday and headed to Cheddar Reservoir home to Bristol Corinthians Sailing Club. Tel had arranged to sail with Chris to get some practice in for the nationals in July, when they will sail together for the week.
While they were sailing I programmed the sat nav and drove to Wells to have a look around. It was cold and rainy but it was lovely by the cathedral. I went back to pick Tel up (they won the last race and picked up a bottle of wine each) and we went into Bristol for some food.

Southbank, Hackney and Walthamstow

We had a lovely couple of days in London.... Visiting Dave Jo and Marlene in Hackney and enjoying the Loudon Wainwright concert and the Light Show both on the fantastic Southbank. The weather was lovely and sunny and London looked great.
We also went over to Walthamstow and met Rick at the William Morris Gallery . . . Liz did nt make it as the baby is due in the next few days ....we wish them well with everything and look forward to seeing them all in August.
It was great to spend a bit of time with Marlene who was funny and smiley. Her 1st birthday is approaching x
