Tig the border collie

On Monday I met my friend from work Jo, at a local churchyard to pay a quick visit to my participant Lesley who died last year. It was freezing and wet so we didnt stay long. We went back to her house for a coffee. . where I met Tig her lovely border collie dog. Jo is an experienced dog owner and was giving me tips on what sort of dog might be best for us. They rescued Tig from a farm and had to put a lot of training in. . but now she is very well behaved. Jo said a border terrier might not be a good idea!

Campfire burning

This campfire was much needed on Saturday.... it was an eventful few hours at the top of the field.
Mark, Tel and Asimina worked hard on sawing a wedge into a tree that we needed to cut down. . and then the men pulled it down using some rope and a few heave ho s. There was also the shocking moment when the swing broke while Mark was on it.....we guess its been there for about 10 years and the wooden beam holding the ropes of the swing had rotted. Mark was fine. Tel also stood on one of the benches around the campfire and it just broke in two.
We really do need to spend some time up there. . there is now lots of wood to cut up and new benches and a swing to rebuild!!!
We went for a walk on Sunday to visit the alpacas and goats on the other side of the river.

Cliff Richard - Dreamin'

Found myself singing this the other day. . word for word x
"i m gonna dream you right into my life"

This week. . . .

On Monday I completed and sent off 2 job application forms.
I met up with an old participant on Tuesday and drove down to Cardiff with her for a hospital appointment. It was nice to see her and to catch up on the news. . a lot has changed for her (in a good way) since we parted company in July last year.
On Wednesday it was Yoga and I really enjoyed the stick stretches and the relaxation bit at the end. We had to visualize a rose. . and the petals on the rose. . and the colour of the petals on the rose. . and then we had to imagine giving the rose to someone special. Who would you give your rose to? We also thought about embracing change. .  and if we do we may be more relaxed.
Before I headed down to the village hall on wednesday . . there was an enormous group of deer in the field. I counted 20. For a moment I felt a bit nervous about having so many big animals so close to the house. I think it reminded me of the time we came across a big herd of cows in a field and they started running towards us!!  Luckily the deer would run away and not towards us.

The 11th of Feburary

Seven years ago today we moved into this house and today I have been feeling a bit nostalgic and sentimental. I have a few "special " dates in my mind each year and this is one of them.
I remember the day of the move and how Paul and Mark came to help us. Wilson was with us too. So much has happened here in the last 7 years. . and we have shared the house and garden and field with friends and family. . enjoying time together. There has been scarecrows and morris dancers and campfires and  deer and other wildlife and a summerhouse has (almost) been built.
I think we more and more feel part of the village and are still getting to know people. . its best to take your time with these things. I wonder how long we will stay here altogether. . ?

St Ives

We had a lovely time in Cornwall last week. . staying in St Ives.
It is a beautiful part of the world.. . and especially off peak when it is much quieter.
Our favourite place was the beach and beach cafe at Porthgwidden Beach a short walk from our accommodation. We did a walk along the coast towards Gwithian Towans . . drove out one day to Zennor, St Just and Cape Cornwall. . . had fish and chips.. . visited lots of art galleries including the Tate and our favourite Penwith Gallery. . and even went to the St Ives Jazz Club one evening for our first ever live jazz show. I took lots of photos. . . they do say the light is beautiful down there. There was a rainbow, big storm clouds and waves, and we saw a seal bobbing about in the harbour.
Tel had a bad cough while we were away and had to go to the local surgery to see a doctor. . they said it was a virus and couldnt really prescribe anything.
It was really windy while we were in St Ives. . gale force winds battering the town. On our second night a window from the house opposite blew out and smashed onto the ground outside our bedroom window. . . it was a bit alarming!!!
It was lovely to get away for a week. We want to plan another holiday now. x
