We had a lovely few days here over Christmas.
On Sunday we went out for sunday lunch and in the evening we went to see Life of Pi at the local cinema. . we enjoyed the film very much.
Yesterday we went down to the pub for a Christmas Day drink and not surprisingly it was very busy down there. . we chatted with our neighbours and met some new people who have just moved into the village.
Today was very wet and dark outside so we stayed in and I carried on with the mural.
We thought about Wilson and Auntie Edna yesterday. . as it was our first Christmas without them. I ordered Tel a mug with a photo of Wilson on the front. . . we miss our crazy cat x

The Murial

So the mural or murial as my Mum would have said. . is coming along nicely.
The spare bedroom is starting to look very different. Tel has said that this is my project and he has amazingly let me choose the colour scheme. . this is great although I could have done with his help as I stood at the "create your own colour" machine in B+Q yesterday. . there are way to many colours to choose from. In the end I went for "heather bloom" as the main colour. . it is very much like a lipstick I used to have.
I am planning to order a blind for the window and maybe put some shelves up. . and then we can move on to the office room and the middle room which also need a lick of paint and a re jig.

The zeitgeist. . . is the spirit of the age or the spirit of the time.

Zeitgeist 2012: Year In Review

12.12.12

Today is the last consecutive number date sequence of the century. . . it will be a long long time until the next one.
I remember being at Wigan Infirmary . . .working there as a summer job on 8.8.88 and hearing the news on the radio that a royal baby had been born.

Tel had some much needed time off work on Monday and yesterday. . . and we were able to get on with some jobs inside and outside the house. The weather was cold but bright and we managed to start a fire on the track and burn through piles and piles of garden stuff. We cut back the crab apple tree, put some boards up in the summerhouse, varnished the new bathroom door and put some shelves up next to the woodburner.
Tel managed to find time to go to the pub to watch the football and out for a run aswell!!!

We have decorated our little Christmas tree today and it looks really nice. I love my retro decorations and second hand sparkly baubles . . and of course my Mums robin who must be about 65 years old now. . he sits at the top of the tree this year x

Night out

I went out with my friends from work on Friday night. . it was a sort of Christmas get together and also the leaving do that we didnt have, when most of us left our jobs over the last couple of months. It was lovely to see everyone and to catch up on news. I also received my last pay slip from work last week so I now feel my time as an enabler has properly come to an end. . . well with that company anyway???

Big Ben

We had a lovely weekend in London staying with Declan and meeting up with Dave Joana and Marlene.
We arrived in London and met Dave Joana and Marlene at Somerset House. The ice skating rink was there and it looked really fun and christmasy. We looked around the Cartier Bresson photo exhibition and then went over to Bethnal Green to a seconds sale. We said goodbye and then went over to Highgate to meet Declan. They are going to Germany for Christmas. . and hopefully they will come and visit us in the new year.
Declan made us a lovely meal at his new flat in the evening and we made a big fuss of his black cat Scotch. . he really reminded us of Wilson. The next day we walked around the local woods and up to Alexandra Palace to look at the view over London. We later met his girlfriend Kate and had some food in a pub before we headed back to Paddington to catch the train home. It was a cold and busy weekend and we really enjoyed it. x
