Cathy s halloween get together

We went over to Cardiff yesterday for Cathy and Rhosyns Halloween party. It was lovely to see them and to check out Cathys new kitchen floor and cooker and general progress on the house. There was a man dressed as a gorilla and pumpkin soup. x

Bathroom

After many months of planning and quotes etc. . .we now have a new bathroom. . . Grey tiling, dark units, a big radiator and a shower over a new bath.  It took the B&Q fitters 5 days to take out the old bathroom and fit the new. . They worked really hard and have done a really good job. We just need to finish off the painting now and  buy a new loo roll holder.

Emmas Hen do in Manchester.

It was Emmas Hen do in Manchester on Saturday. We met at Great John Street Hotel which was a really nice place.. . and enjoyed a champagne afternoon tea. This was followed by a walk across Manchester to Chinatown where Emma treated us all to a 30 min session in a massage chair at a beautiful spa. We then went for a drink and some food. It was good to meet Emma s family and friends and got us all in the mood for the big day in November.
Paul and his family and friends met up in Worsley for clay pigeon shooting and then went into Manchester for some drinks.
It was a lovely day x

We drove over to Wakefield on Sunday morning to meet Robin,Suzy and the kids at Hepworth Wakefield. We looked around this lovely gallery on the last day of the Richard Long exhibition and then drove back to their house via a pub in Marsden.
It was lovely to see them all. . and to catch up on news.
We looked around the village on Monday morning. . unfortunately the retro Danish furniture shop and the cool bakery/cafe were both closed. . but we had a coffee and bought a pie from the butchers.

At Hepworth Wakefield. Richard Long exhibition.

Happy birthday Dad x
I spent a lot of time and effort arguing with my Dad. . in those difficult teenage years!! It seems such a shame now. It was only just before he died and when I grew up a bit , that i realised what a kind and funny and hardworking (up at 4am everyday being a postman) Dad he was. x

Big stag on the move today. .

Colours

Colours, a photo by Jillian DIxon on Flickr.

The colours are starting to change now. . yellow and orange leaves on the trees.
It is also The Rut. . when you can hear loud grunting up in the woods and there is the occasional sighting of a big stag chasing the female deer around. Camera at the ready!!

We had a quiet weekend. . sorting through paperwork and making plans and arrangements for things happening in the next few weeks. And there was a bit of work on the summerhouse. Tel is now wrestling with enormous pieces of ply wood . . trying to cut them into shape is tricky. We watched the Kevin Mcloud programme where he is building his own "shed in the woods" . We like his idea for wallpapering inside using old os maps.

"Hail old October, bright and chill "
"By October few traces of summer linger on. On sunny days the sky is paler, colder blue and the air is crisp. Cloudy days are often damp and raw. As the days shorten, temperatures start to drop very sharply at nightfall"
