Life drawing

Dave didnt bring his camera with him at the weekend. He has been drawing and sketching a lot, since he has been living in London...and attending life drawing classes. I really liked his brightly coloured life paintings. I think he is in a good place.

The Mighty Boosh - Black Bits In Bananas

I love the first series.

Progress

We have had huge help from Dave and Graham this weekend.... with the summerhouse build.
The tricky top beams are now up and it is actually starting to look like a building.
Tel is now working out his next move.... and putting together his next timber order.

As I was driving to work yesterday, I was hit on the passenger side by a car pulling out of a side road. Luckily everyone was okay... but both cars were damaged. My poor car was taken away to be assessed and I am now waiting for the bad news.
This little chick was bobbing about in the garden yesterday..with his mum and nine brothers and sisters... and the sun was shining.
I just feel sad for my car.

I got our new digital camera with its super zoom, into action and caught it s strange behaviour this morning.

"How to live a simple life"

I found BBC2 s friday night programme "How to live a simple life very moving.
How to find a simpler. more meaningful and fulfilling life?
Peter Owen Jones set off on a two week journey, as St Francis of Assisi (who lived a life of complete poverty) would have done...with only the clothes he was wearing, no money and asking people for help, food and accommodation along the way.
Every time he asked for food...and someone kindly gave him some, he became very emotional and humbled.
He noticed how people were very wary of him as a stranger... especially when he knocked on doors asking for a room for the night.
But those people who helped him ..found out how great it feels to help someone in need. He was giving people an opportunity to be generous.

"The best mirror is an old friend"

It was lovely to be with Charlotte on her birthday yesterday... and to spend some time with Ang and the kids.
On Friday we walked round to pick Joseph up from school... and then in the evening we went into Manchester for a drink and some tapas.
Yesterday we wished Charlotte a happy birthday..and then I headed home.
Plans have been hatched for our Big 40th celebrations next year.... looks like a trip to Florence. Italy. x

Garden stuff

Over today and yesterday, we have managed to move 11 heavy planks of wood from the track and up to the site of the build. This has been very tiring and back breaking work.... only 8 more planks to move!!!!
We have also cut back the eucalyptus tree.... taken out all the dead bits on the climbing rose.... rescued the honeysuckle.... teak oiled our new/second hand garden table...and planted the mange tout.
We are planning a walk tomorrow. And a drink tonight. We are all gardened out.

The Lake House

Sandra Bullock has had a difficult time recently..... maybe she should give Keanu a ring?
The Lake House was a bit confusing and a bit soppy.... but they do make a lovely couple.

Life size

There was a story in the free Metro newspaper on Friday... about a man who had died at the age of 38. His wife and 2 children decided to have a life size cardboard cut out made of him from a photo taken when he was on a cruise ship, smiling happily and holding a bottle of champagne. They took the cut out to the wake after his funeral.... and later they took it with them to a friends wedding where the bride and groom had a photo taken with him. His wife said that some people might see it as a strange thing to do.... but they miss him so much and it is comforting to still have him around.
