A special time x
Olivia, Graeme and Mia flew out to Sweden yesterday, on the next leg of their trip around Europe. We were lucky to have them here for 8 days....especially as it was Christmas.
The day after they arrived it started to snow.... and everything was white, icy and frosty for most of their time here. This was exciting for a little girl from Australia.
They managed to go to Bristol with Tel for a day...and looked around Monmouth a couple of times. We went out for a curry, ate lots of nice food at home.... and it has to be mentioned....we drank quite a lot ...and fluffed a bit too!!!
Mia met Father Christmas on Christmas Eve.....and Morris Men on Boxing Day. We all planted a tree in the garden on their last day.....so a little bit of them will be here all the time. Graeme played his guitar and sang songs...he put on his herringbone jacket to carve the turkey...."Quirkys Turkey". Olivia made friends with nearly everyone she met.... her smile and warmth is so lovely to see. She also helped me to stay on top of the washing up etc and once I even saw her brushing the kitchen floor.
We Skyped Elaine Malcolm and Julian in Australia a couple of times ..and spoke to Auntie Angela on the phone.
We watched the Epileptic Dogs episode of Flight of the Conchords and a bit of The Mighty Boosh.
Mia was so lovely and fun to be with. She would start each day with a little yoghurt. She is a good singer, painter and mince pie maker......and she named her sock monkey "Chocky".
I didnt feel too sad when they left, as I hope to see them again soon.
It was so lovely to be with them and it was a memorable Christmas 09 x

The rellies have landed
Olivia Graeme and Mia arrived on Saturday night to stay with us over Christmas. It is lovely having them here.
They have been in Italy for a few months ...Olivia has been at art college there. They came through customs at Bristol Airport with all their bags and 2 enormous canvases .... we couldnt fit them into the car and had to leave them at Lost Property.
So far they have been to the Charity shops, the local pub and have struggled up and down the hill in snow and ice. Unfortunately they were out when a group of 10 deer came into the garden!!
Mia and I have made christmas cookies.... we will be making mince pies too. x

Pie eaters
My old radio in my old car burst into life today...and on my way home I listened to Five Live just as they were reporting from Wigan on todays World Pie Eating Championships.
There was an interview with the winner.... it was brilliant.
He was asked what was his winning technique? He answered "I take small bites, chew quickly then swallow"
The pies were of course meat and potato. There was a ban on "outside gravy".

Little Murray
We met Murray for the first time at the weekend....he s such a lovely little dog. When you see him if you ve been out or for the first time... he goes berserk...running around and jumping all over you. We took him for a walk on Sat....it all got a bit muddy and messy but it was fun.

Can I just buy 1 item?
I understand "buy one get one free"
And now there is "better than half price"
But the one I struggle with is "3 for 2"
It really confuses me when I m out shopping.
