Today....

...I learnt how important body language is. Hands on hips and arms folded are very off putting and can suggest that a person is not interested.
.... I was with a participant who is regaining her speech following a stroke. She was struggling to explain herself and then very clearly said...." its all gobledegook". Now thats not easy to say.
....I realised that my car doesnt like overtaking other cars when we are driving up a hill !!!!
....we reached the end of September.... a whole month without any rain. The river is very low, a nearby pond is empty and we need to water the garden with the hose pipe. A big downpour is needed.

Coffee break

Coffee break

We spent yesterday afternoon.... near the top of the field ...marking out the four corners of our future hut/shed/cabin. Tel did most of the hard work...but I was there to hold the string and pass the spirit level to him. Its a difficult area to work in.... the ground is sloping in at least 3 directions. Tel is working on an 8 ft by 12 ft plan.... so not very big really. When complete it wont have any power inside.... possibly just a gas bottle outside so we can use a little gas burner to make a cup of tea. To complete this little building will take a long time.... probably 12 months or so.

Yesterday at the Ploughing Match Tel bought a small second hand axe.
He is building up a good selection of tools.
Last week he came home with a battery powered spirit level with an laser beam on the end. This will go with his other 3 spirit levels in the garage. They will soon be joined by a bag of 5 mini spirit levels he has ordered from Ebay. x

It was like going back in time.... fields full of old tractors ploughing straight lines.... and one horse drawn plough. We had a cup of tea and a cake in the little marquee.... Ploughmans lunches were obviously available for the Ploughmen.

We passed the morris dancers and had a look at the prize winning onions.... leeks and garlic... and animals made from vegetables. There was a dog show and the chance to ring the bells in the church. Laura loved this. We looked at the stalls and in the charity shops..and then headed home.

"Barrel O Laffs"

"Barrel O Laffs"
Originally uploaded by terry Dixon
We walked along the river yesterday ...stopping at the old railway bridge to watch the raft race pass by. Kids were throwing eggs and balloons filled with flour at the rafts as they went past. Experienced rafters put umbrellas up to avoid being hit by the eggs.... and one raft fought back with a hose pipe that they aimed at the spectators. We saw rafts full of smurfs, vikings, pirates and our favourite was a raft with 6 monks and a priest onboard. There were lots of Welsh flags being flown...and singing. A few rafts went into the bushes along the banks but we didnt see any capsizes.
It was a great sight and a happy day .. .. until we started to hear the sirens. When we got back to the village there were police, ambulances and the air ambulance helicopter landing on the village green. A raft had over turned and a man was pulled out of the water. We think he was okay but havent heard the full story yet.

Creme Puff

What a great name for a cat.
Creme Puff was the worlds oldest cat...living to 38 years old.
Wilson is now 15 years old.... and is looking quite well at the moment. Imagine if he lives to be 38.....!!!
The worlds oldest dog has just died aged 21.
She was called Chanel and liked to wear a jumper.

Tel has been working hard, raking up the grass in the field. First he put it into lines... Richard Long stylee.... and then he put it in the wheelbarrow and moved it into a big mound by the fence. Its hard work...especially when you factor in the hill. Who needs the gym?
