Shake it like a Polaroid picture.

The last batches of Polaroid film will reach their expiry date at the end of September.
www.mylastpolaroid.com says Polaroid pictures appear as if by magic.... and now they are disappearing forever.

Heavenly Lantern Festival - Taipei

Its a jungle out there

As we only have 4 TV channels and a very small DVD collection.... I ve been watching lots of dodgy programmes this week.... as I try to keep my feet up and speed up the getting back to normal process.
My viewing highlight is Monk.... BBC2 3pm.
Monk is a detective in San Francisco.... he has phobias, obsessions and compulsions. He is scared of heights, crowds and germs... he cleans his hands a lot using antiseptic wipes. He is in therapy.
Monk is a brilliant series... the characters are great ...its funny and touching.
The theme tune by Randy Newman is really good.
Maybe we could buy a box set of Monk, to increase our DVD collection.

The dry grass is a golden colour .... so it looks like we have a big sand dune or beach behind us.

Funny week.

Its been a funny week.... it could have been the painkillers!!!
My feet are improving slowly....they are very painful when I wake up and gradually get better though the day. I am trying to rest them... this is very difficult!
I learnt a lot about sick notes this week.... how the self certificate covers 7 consecutive days...so for me that included 3 days that I dont actually work! I went to see the doctor who wrote me another note till next Thursday.
I havent driven my car for 9 days.
I spent 12 pounds on a taxi to and from the doctors.
The World Championship Athletics has been great on the BBC
We had a new fridge delivered on Thursday....the delivery men were very stressed about bringing their van up the hill. The new fridge is amazing.
Mike Catherine James and Matthew came down with their caravan for a weeks holiday ...and stayed on a lovely site nr Abergavenny. It was lovely to see them.
The brushcutter arrived and Tel has finally mowed the field.

The intrepid Williams ....camping out overnight in their DIY shelter.

Mark and the kids arrived on Saturday....armed with sleeping bags, lanterns and ideas to make a shelter at the top of the field. Tel helped them put it together....I felt a bit sad not to join in ... my painful feet wouldnt have made it up there and definitely not back down. Anna took lots of photos to keep me up to date with the construction. As the photo shows, the campsite area they created was completely brilliant. They came down for some pizza and cake.... and then took their sleeping bags up for the night. Anna and Lara came back down for the emergency toilet roll.....as they went back up the hill I could hear Lara shouting "I ve got the bog roll, I ve got the bog roll."
At 7.30 am yesterday they came back down to the house... they had survived the night in the woods. x

Bob Dylan - Love Minus Zero/No Limit

This great song played in the background as we signed the register on our wedding day at Cardiff Registry Office x

Ten/ Tin

Yesterday we celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary. It seemed quite important that we had reached 10 years.... a bit of a milestone? We had planned a meal out in Bristol tonight as a little treat....and I was going to see the Banksy exhibition in the day. Unfortunately, I fell down a step in a participants garden yesterday....injuring both my feet.....therefore putting the kibosh on any fun today.
Luckily, I was being shadowed by my colleague Kali when I fell....and she was able to drive me to the hospital to have my feet strapped up. I seemed to have pulled the muscle on the top of each foot....so I am trying to put them up as much as possible. The nurse recommended putting ice on my feet, so I have found a novel use for our wine cooler pouch that we keep in the freezer.
ps....You can celebrate your 10th Wedding Anniversary by exchanging gifts made from Tin.

Sailing into Brixham harbour.

Tel enjoyed his 5th Enterprise Nationals at Brixham....they finished 43rd overall at the end of the week. Their best result was a 28th on the wednesday. He and Pete would have liked stronger winds.... sailing in light winds is very technical and suits those who sail on lakes every week.
I joined them on Thursday for the last couple of days. The accommodation was overlooking the harbour and was really nice. We called in at Torquay and Dawlish on our way home.

We visited Torre Abbey in Torquay to see Antony Gormley's Field for the British Isles. 40,000 clay figures filled the Spanish Barn..."thousands of unglazed, fired, small clay figures standing closely together, all staring towards the viewer". 80,000 eyes looking up at us.... it was lovely....made me smile.
