The very wet weather has encouraged lots of mushrooms to grow in the garden. It has also turned our mange tout to mush. The courgettes though are loving it....and we are picking one or two courgettes a week. The field is still full of very long grass as we wait for a local farmer to come and cut it for us (as arranged by our neighbour).
Siavash
Is Siavash auditioning for the next series of The Mighty Boosh?
Am I the only person watching Big Brother 10?
I ll feel better when Siavash changes out of his pyjama bottoms and gets back to the makeup and funky fashion.

Back to hospital.
Auntie Edna had to go back to hospital yesterday, after the doctor came to see her at the home and discovered a clot in her leg. She is now back at the home again... and a District Nurse will be visiting her to give her a daily injection. Mike said she is in good spirits despite the events of the last few days....she has never complained and keeps smiling. x

Rice cake
The crunch from a rice cake, is nowhere near as exciting as the crunch from a bag of Tyrells crisps (Worcester Sauce with Sun Dried Tomato)
Likeable
A likeable person shows genuine interest in others, remaining easy going and understanding.

Roys Mum and Auntie Edna.
I went up to Wigan yesterday for Roys Mums funeral. The service was at the crematorian....Roy made a lovely speech about his Mum.... and had us all in tears. Roy has lots of great stories about his Mum and Dad. We all gathered back at the house.... Ros had made some lovely food. I hadnt seen Roys Mum for a while but felt it was important to go up and say goodbye.
I had to leave Ros and Roys quite early, to visit Auntie Edna in hospital. As I was driving up in the morning I had a message from Mike, to say she had fallen out of bed and broken her hip. It was upsetting to see her in the hospital bed.. she looked really small and confused about what was happening. The news today is that she is okay.... eating and drinking. As I was driving home, I was thinking that I might not cope very well when Auntie Edna goes. Hopefully she will get over this and carry on for a while yet. x

Day in London
We had a great day out in London yesterday.... its amazing what you can cram into one day!
We started off at the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. I had been looking forward to it for ages and I loved being there. Great to see such a wide variety of work displayed in such beautiful rooms.
We walked over to Tate Britain to meet Dave, and to see the Richard Long Exhibition Heaven and Earth. On display were photographs going back to the 60s and 70s... sculptures and large scale mud wall works.
We had a drink by the river and Dave filled us in on what hes been up to in London since January. Hes grown a beard and is busy meeting lots of new people. It was nice to see him again.
A quick walk over to Trafalgar Square meant we could catch a bit of One and Other where we saw a man on the Fourth Plinth ...throwing t shirts out to the big crowd.
Dave took us to Covent garden for some food and then we said goodbye and took our weary feet back to Paddington for the train home.

Roys Mum.
Roys Mum passed away on Friday. She would have been 96 next week. She had been struggling to recover from her recent fall. Roy was with her when she died. x
Mappa Mundi
The Hereford Mappa Mundi dates back to around 1300. It is drawn on a single sheet of vellum and is the largest medieval map currently in existence.
Mum Jenny and Richard came to stay at the weekend and on Saturday we headed out to Hereford for the afternoon. We visited the cathedral, where we saw the Mappa Mundi and the Magna Carter. The stormy weather really moved in later on.... we had a meal and played cards around the table. We watched the woodpecker flying in and out of the garden... ate nuts and licorice....and laughed about Terences Mum going into the Gents toilets at the cathedral !!!
We were due to mow the field but for various reasons....(a broken drive belt and heavy rain).... it didnt happen. We will have to arrange another week.

Glow worm
Tel found this amazing glow worm in the garden on Friday night. He spotted the bright light... and thought someone had dropped a mobile phone in the long grass. Truly Wild Life.

Creature of habit.
At around 10.30pm ...the funny noises begin.
It sounds like a helicopter in the distance.... mixed with some snorting.
And then we spot the hedgehog... shuffling across the garden.
