If I see a light flashing
Could this mean that I'm coming home
If I see a man waving
Does this mean that I'm not alone.

It was a very early trip to Cardiff yesterday. Tel was sailing and then we drove out to Ogmore for a walk from the castle to Merthyr Mawr. We walked on the sand dunes and then had a coffee. It started to rain so we headed home.
We remembered our trip there with Laura and Lyndsey....and the horseriding along the beach.

I bought this top in Oxfam yesterday. The extra joy is that it came with a matching pair of shorts.

Courgette and mangetout.

We are getting used to covering anything we want to grow...in netting, mini greenhouses, surrounding things with canes and sticks. Its a bit of a pain.... but it is very rewarding when we grow something...and we can eat it....instead of the deer or rabbits tucking in.
Our courgettes are doing well....and we have mangetout ....radish, garlic and beetroots. Its fun growing a small selection of veg.

Noel loves Kasabian and Kasabian love Noel.

Heres Noel in Kasabians recent video "Vlad The Impaler".
Dark and mysterious. Noel looks good with the dodgy moustache.

Shepherds hut excitement.

On our way down the A49 on Monday....we pulled in at some antique/crafty shops for a break. There by the side of the road was a man building a shepherds hut..... Terence was beside himself !!!!
We then noticed another shepherds hut being used as a tea room by one of the shops. Terence was beside himsellf again !!!! Tables and chairs outside... it looked great. We went inside and took some photos. Tel spoke to the man and he explained how long it would take to build one, and how much it would cost. He also delivers the hut when its ready.
We are giving it some serious thought. It would be great to have one hidden away in the field. Apparently, because they are on wheels, you dont need planning permission for a shepherds hut? We could put guests in there.... I could paint in there. It is very tempting.

Also this week we have been keeping our eye on a female pheasant and her 4 tiny chicks who are hiding on the track....coming into the garden to peck about now and then. Wilson doesnt seem bothered about chasing them.... but next doors young cat had a go last night..... they all flew up into the air and the male pheasant rushed in to protect them.

Tel saw a seagull swoop in and take a moorhen chick away. Joseph showed us how to walk on the stepping stones. It was lovely to spend a bit of time with them all.

On Sunday we went out for a meal with Ros and Roy.. to celebrate their Ruby Wedding Anniversary. It was lovely to be with them....we are looking forward to them all coming to visit us over the summer.

Time to retire.

Roy retired from Heinz this week ..after working there, mostly on the night shift, for 30 years. It is also his birthday next week and he and Ros are celebrating their Ruby Wedding Anniversary. In the midst of all this... Roys Mum is very unwell. She will be 96 next month but has recently fallen and has been in hospital with a broken hip. You could say that Roy has a lot on his mind at the moment. x

Hangman

I have been attending a Communication Group for the last 3 weeks, with a participant who is trying to regain her speech following a stroke. It has been really interesting watching the Speech Therapist working with people. She encourages people to try crosswords and to play scrabble as a way of playing with words again. We also played a game of Hangman.... the old fashioned game were you try and spell out a word....the drawing of a hanging stick figure is used to keep score. We were wondering if this game is still played by children today?
The husband of a lady in the group, also explained how his wife ...who is working really hard on her speech....had been talking in her sleep. It must be so frustrating to lose your speech. And it can be a long road back to making yourself heard again.

Remembrance: Nimrod from Enigma Variations

Mr W Pecker

We have a beautiful woodpecker visiting our garden every day. He is a great spotted woodpecker. We have been tempting him in, by smearing lard on the tree trunks. After a day or two, it becomes clogged up with flies and bugs and he swoops in for a feast.

All dressed up....in an SLR film production.

We took 2 rolls of proper old fashioned film at Jennys wedding. Obviously everyone is taking digital now... but if its a special occasion I still love to use film. The only problem is getting them developed. We had to wait 3 weeks for them to come back from the lab.... there were times during those 3 weeks when I was convinced they had been lost. I am really happy with the photos we took.... Jenny is too. Tel says it will soon become very difficult to find good quality film developers. I will have to buy a big pile of film just incase .... and maybe try and get hold of some super 8 film too. Could be time to dust off the old cine camera.
