We have put out a new feeder, filled with Niger seed....to attract the Goldfinches. They are beautiful little birds.

Laura, Jenny and Richard came to stay at the weekend. On Saturday we made the most of the gorgeous weather and drove to Symonds Yat. In the evening we walked down to the Burns Night Supper at the Village Hall....and had a really nice evening. We sat with our neighbours....there was haggis, neeps and tatties...a piper...the toast to the lassies....singing and some hilarious Scottish country dancing. We had a bit too much to drink and got to bed around 1 am.

Tel was in Lisbon, Portugal last week for a meeting. He stayed near this bridge ... the 25th of April Bridge...built by the same builders who constructed the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
While he was there, he met up with Pete Gill and Annie who are now living out there. They had a drink in a local bar.

Made of strong stuff.

Auntie Edna was taken into hospital on Friday....after she became unwell at the residential home. The carers said she wouldnt drink anything that day and she soon became confused and disorientated. At the hospital they have put her on a drip, given her blood tests and xrays....and the latest is that she is getting back to her old self.
We saw her just before Christmas and she looked well. Her memory is slowly getting worse but her appetite is good and she still has a twinkle in her eye. x

Loudon Wainwright - You don't wanna know

I have been reminded of this great Loudon song over the last 2 days. Yesterday we couldnt drive down the hill... due to snow and ice....and had to take the day off work. Today I struggled to get my car on the road.... is it normal to have ice inside your car? It is extremely cold here at the moment.

It was very very cold today. We crossed the river and walked for a couple of hours. The little waterfalls behind the pub had frozen into icicles which looked really strange. Everything looked lovely in the frost.
