Iwan and the Moddey Doo (drawn by Luke)

Iwan and the Moddey Doo.

Iwan and Luke have been telling us about the Moddey Doo.
"An apparition, called in Manx language the Moddey Doo, in the shape of a large black Spaniel with curled, shaggy hair, used to haunt Peel Castle."
We had an action packed 2 days with Jim Lisa Iwan and Luke. They are over here for Christmas. We met them at Clearwell Caves. Father Christmas was there and all the caves were decorated with christmas trees and fairy lights. Later on, they came here to stay the night. The remote control helicopters went down really well, as presents for Iwan and Luke....it was fun flying them around the house....("watch the fire....dont hit the telly!")
This morning we watched the buzzard flying around the garden, nursed bad heads and dodgy stomachs. We had a quick walk down to the river....hash browns for lunch....and then Jim nearly left wearing my red jacket. Very similar to his own.
Well see them all again tomorrow.

Christmas fun at Clearwell Caves.

I met Gail and Margaret in Cardiff today. We had a coffee in The Norwegian Church and then we listened to some christmas music in The Millennium Centre.
We had a quick look in the Welsh Assembly building..... Gail set the alarm off as we went through the security barriers. I think it was the brooch she was wearing. Gail told them it was her belt.....then she checked and she wasnt wearing one!!!!!

Unfortunately, I am unable to watch The Mighty Boosh as we dont have BBC3. I have to make do with glimpses of Noel on Never Mind the Buzzcocks or clips on line.
He is currently exhibiting his paintings above a cake shop in London.
He would like to take a year off, to concentrate on his art.
Sigh!!!!! What a guy.

I love....

....the channel 4 adverts staring Max Headroom. Takes me back to the eighties.

"The buzzard is staging something of a comeback"

In the right hand corner, you can just about see the white chest of a buzzard, sitting on our gate. He has been flying above our garden for most of the day.....swooping down and landing very close to the house.
Our book on british birds says...."typically adult buzzards are territorial residents, favouring a patchwork of open country with scattered woodland for nesting"
It would be great if this buzzard moved in... and pushed the crows out. Hes a much bigger and more beautiful bird, and we would welcome him into our garden.

Christmas tree on the move.

Christmas tree on the move.
Originally uploaded by terry Dixon
On Saturday morning, with the help of John and his trusty chainsaw, we finally cut down the christmas tree in the garden. It suddenly looked a lot bigger when it was lying on the ground! We estimate it is about 20 ft tall. Roy, Terence, John and John then carried it up to the track, and around to the front of our house. It stayed there overnight.
On Sunday, while we were in Cardiff for the day, the men who look after the village green came up to get it.
We arrived home at about 9.30pm.....driving into the village we could see our tree all lit up with fairy lights on the village green.
