We spotted these poor birds outside a butchers in Ludlow yesterday. We met a lady on the market who said they are trying to keep the big stores out of Ludlow. There are lots of small independent shops, a market 3 times a week and a good selection of charity shops. We enjoyed looking around, even though it was below freezing for most of the day.

Poor Wilson.... he's had a bad day!!!!
When I got home from work yesterday he was behaving very strangely....on closer inspection I could see his left big front tooth was moving about and he was sticking his tongue out and dribbling everywhere. I took him to the vets last night and she said they would need to remove the tooth. So hes been at the vets all day today.... having a blood test, injections and 2 teeth removed in the end. He came home tonight, a bit wobbly on his feet and with 2 shaved patches of fur. He looks funny. In human years Wilson is about 74.....so he did well to survive todays ordeal. We will miss him when he isnt around anymore.

NEIL DIAMOND - I AM...I SAID

Death of rare white deer.

A rare white male deer has been hit by a car and killed not far from here. The local paper reported...."It is upsetting. Most people regard seeing a deer as a special event, and seeing a white deer is even more extraordinary. People had a great affection for him and this was a very sad ending for a spectacular animal."

On Autumnwatch last night... there was some great film of Wild Boar roaming the forests around here. With their furry ears and very cute little offspring, it was great to see them up close. On the website www.djsphotography.co.uk you can see some lovely recent photos of the wild boar. Grunt grunt.

"We can see you" There has been lots of bird activity this weekend....woodpeckers, jays, blackbirds, pheasants and of course the crows.
It could be time to give the crows proper names.... and learn to love them. A bit like hugging a hoodie?
When we saw Sophie and Mauri last week.... Mauri said that if he had a dog, he would call it Lorenzo or Peepo. Ideal names for the crows, me thinks.
