Tel has put in a big effort this weekend....sanding the floors in the hall and front room. We are working on the front room before we have a wood burner fitted in 4 weeks time. Next job is to varnish the floors and then build a hearth for the burner to sit on. Then we will put some colour on the walls...yellow is the favourite at the moment. And finally move some furniture in there and use the room as a living room/ dining room. This has been our idea for the last 18 months.....hooray, we are finally getting the work done.

It was a very busy and tiring few days up north.....heres how it went.

Friday.....we drove up in torrential rain. Called in on Mum. Went out for tea with Ros, Roy, Jane, Mike, Cath, James and Roger. Went home to watch Wigan lose to St Helens on Sky.

Sat......Went over to see Ang, Richard and Joseph....and to meet Florence for the first time. She is so tiny and wonderful. Joseph was full of beans and very chatty. It was great to see them. Went to Howard and Lesleys BBQ. Drove over to Manchester and Rusholme for a curry to celebrate Joes 60th birthday. Toadfish Rebecchi joined us at the Haannan ...or maybe it was Terences twin brother Paul!!!!!

Sun......called in on Mum again. Drove home...very tired but pleased to have packed so much in.

Mark Radcliffe...

and Liza Tarbuck have been standing in for Steve Wright, for the last two weeks on Radio 2. It makes you realize how awful "Steve Wright in the Afternoon" is...and how wonderful and charming and likeable Mark Radcliffe is. Oh, how we miss Mark and Lard.....they were even better/sillier than Chris Needs on Radio Wales. Mark Radcliffe plays good music...and makes me want to laugh out loud and hug my radio.

We went out to inspect the grass last night......and yes, it is now getting quite long. We had to cancel the mower last weekend due to bad weather....we need a few dry days really before and during the mowing. The rain seems to be putting the crows off a bit......they are quieter on a rainy morning. We saw the main crow culprit last week in our garden ...and we now actually feel sorry for it. It is obviously a bit unhinged but is frantically trying to defend its territory. The poor bird has lost about half its feathers and has big bald patches were it must have been fighting with other crows. It really is a sorry sight. I just wish it would give up and fly away.
