Precious plant....the eucalyptus.

Handy hints....

...on how to keep the deer away from precious plants.
1.Nylon stockings with human hair inside.!!!!
2.Dried blood in a cloth bag.!!!
3.Human urine or droppings!!!
All sounds pretty normal to me.

This scruffy and old looking deer, came up to the kitchen window yesterday. She took a break from munching on the dandelions, to stand still for a few seconds while I took a couple of photos. It was a lovely moment.
Unforgettable.

Sporty Spice.

An article in the local paper, today revealed that Mel C [Sporty Spice] lives in The Wye Valley. And she recycles her household rubbish too. I ll be looking out for her at all local events...its always fun spotting "celebs".

Ang said we look like a girl band, in the above photo. Almost 25 years together....maybe "girl" band is pushing it a bit? We all went to the village hall on saturday night. The evening was to raise money for the renovation of the war memorial in the village.
It was a good night....2 young bands played and a local 'forest' man read poems and sang ditties. Once the white wine kicked in, we got the giggles.

12 months

My blog has now been running for nearly 12 months. It has taken me back to my old days of writing a diary. In my teens I would write something in my diary every night....all the trivial stuff. When I went to Turkey {aged 18} with Charlotte and Ang, we wrote a daily diary there....complete with drawings and sweet wrappers...it is hilarious and it really does take you back in time.
My Mum was really good at compiling scrapbooks and photo albums...and she spent time writing things down....poems and notes to herself and other people. I am pretty sure that she would have had her own blog if she were here today.
I do try to keep my blog on the positive side....but then thats not a bad thing is it?
Its been great to post photos....especially when you take as many as I do!!! I did update to Flickr Pro recently.!!!
I think that any kind of "record" of our day to day stuff is great. Its the small stuff that means the most.

We arrived at the Tintern car boot sale nice and early this morning. I had a £20 note burning a hole in my pocket and strict instructions from Tel to come back with at least one piece of gardening equipment....and not too much tat.
I thought it was a really good car boot with an interesting selection of items.
My first purchase was a garden fork. Then I bought a 1970s radio clock alarm...very groovy. Next were 4 spoons. Graham bought me 4 egg cups by Hornsea Pottery. Then I spotted this amazing postcard in a frame.....its the strangest thing I ve ever seen. The man on the stall said it is something to do with Steiff bears!!!! My final buy was a 1950s small table....with lovely small blue tiles on the top. Graham negotiated the price down to £8.
Car boot sales are great fun.

Wilson has started killing things.
After 12 years of eating Felix, it was obviously time for a change?
Voles seem to be his favourites....and he has been seen stalking blackbirds. Squirrels and pheasants are too big for him....but shortly there may be pheasant chicks around. We wont be very happy with him if he brings one of them home as a "present".

National Liquorice Day.

A great day for all lovers of the black stuff. Yum Yum.

On Saturday night we went to see "Reveal" in The Forest of Dean. We wandered around in the dark...taking in the sights and sounds. Put together by 4 artists, there were 9 pieces of work involving lights and projections amongst the trees. Very simple and very dramatic.
The Glow Bros were very funny....book them now for any night time event.

Looks like bird flu is here.
A bird expert on the news tonight,said...."there's no need to get in a flap about it".
I hope they are taking this seriously???

BX Diesel Estate.

BX Diesel Estate.

The charm of the Citroen was too hard to resist...and we have bought a white BX estate. We won the Ebay auction last week and drove to Dorking to collect it on Saturday. Tel drove it home and I followed behind...it was quite emotional watching it weave its way down the Wye Valley...happy Citroen memories came flooding back. Amazingly ,this is our 5th old Citroen and according to Geoff its been a good buy. He came to visit in his red BX estate yesterday...and he is going to have a good look at it for us in a couple of weeks.
The interior is fantastic...looks like new. The dash isnt quite as funky as a GSA or DS but its super simple. Cassette player of course.

Neil Diamond ...

...his voice just makes me cry.
"Hell Yeah"
"So if they ask you when I'm gone
was it everything he wanted
and when he had to travel on
did he know he'd be missed
you can tell them....hell yeah he did.
He saw it all
he walked the line
never had to crawl
he cried a bit
but not for long
Hell yeah...he found the life that he was after
filled it up with love and laughter
finally got it right
and made it fit
hell yeah he did."
