A minutes applause.....

....rather than a minutes silence.
Very moving.

Tel said it might have looked "better" if there had been lights inside some of the boxes. Good point.

A true Welsh legend.

Dame Shirley Bassey really was the star of the show....performing in front of The Queen for The 77th Royal Variety Performance at WMC.
I sneaked inside to see her bring the house down, with a rousing finale. Well and truly back on home ground...she was fantastic. There were tears and cheers.....and goosebumps. Well done Shirl.

Level 5 Outside Mid Upper Circle Door South.....

.........I know it sounds complicated!!!!!! Being an usher can be tricky!!!!! Getting to your correct position for a start..now theres a challenge!!!

Once the audience were all safely in their seats... I sat on my chair outside the doors....and took a few deep breaths. My area was deserted and quiet. I could hear the national anthems inside the auditorium and I was relieved the show had started.
Then a fire exit door slowly opened on my landing..... and a man dressed head to toe in black, wearing a balaclava and with a GUN appeared. For a few seconds I thought....he's a terrorist...oh my god. Then he said in a thick welsh accent...."I ve come down off the roof love...I m with the police snipers."
Being an usher...its a dangerous job...but someones got to do it!!!!

"In our prime......"

"In our prime......"

Charlotte and Ang came down yesterday... and we did the Bay Thing. It was a bright and icy cold day. Last night we had a meal {with 2 bottles of wine between us!!!} and then we stumbled to St Davids Hotel for cocktails. On the way ... we placed something in the bay...and said goodbye to it.x.
Luckily , when we arrived at the hotel the friendly doorman let us in...and we ordered a Pina Colada, a Margerita, and a Bay Breeze. There were lots of laughs.x
This morning we felt a bit fragile.....but I know we all had a great time.x

Burt and Rufus.

Burt Bacharach feat. Rufus Wainwright - "Go Ask Shakespeare"

Sounds a bit like the music from an episode of Moonlighting.
Classy. Smooth. Turn it up.

Viewings.

We had another viewing yesterday. I think it was our 18th viewing. Obviously we are pleased to have had so many people round to look at the house. Almost everyone has said.."we really like it". GREAT!!!!!!
Feedback has been....
1. Its too small.
2. Its too big.
3. It needs too much work doing.
Our dreams of moving to Redbrook seem a long way off. We saw a BBC Wales programme last week about the River Wye...and we remembered why we want to move over there. I think we need a trip to Monmouth ....Monmouth at Christmas...to remind us what a great part of the world it is.
Hopefully one day {soon} we will be there....tending to our field and messing with our septic tank!!! Until then, we will welcome people round for viewings, and one day the feedback will be...."its just what Im looking for".

Wilson has started snoring!!! Not only that... he has started howling in the middle of the night!!! In the mornings when I wake up...he is sitting inches from my face...staring at me.Maybe his eye sight is failing. We fear we now have an old and eccentric cat on our hands.

I miss The Fever.

I wasnt really looking forward to Saturday Night Fever coming to WMC.....I thought it would be tacky and cheesy. Well, it definitely was tacky and cheesy....but also brilliant high camp entertainment. The dancing was great...the songs were excellent. I saw the show 3 nights in a row....and I still cant get the songs out of my head. "Jive Talking" , "Immortality"....and my favourite "You should be dancing". There were lots of "groups" in the audience...fancy dress {i think?}...hen nights...crazy welsh girls down from the valleys. One group of women came running towards me with their tickets and one of them shouted "dont be scared luv...ive only had one bottle of wine!!!!!" . We had life size blow up dolls dressed in white tuxedos{Tony Manero of course}....and lots of dancing in the aisles.
If Saturday Night Fever comes to a town near you....go and see it.

My Mum.

My Mum.

2nd November.

Tomorrow would have been my Mums 60th birthday. Above is a photo of her that I really like....and below is a photo of a painting by our friend John McGuiness. I love this painting as I can see both myself and my mum in it. It is difficult to sum up my mum in a few lines...she was very special to a lot of people. We all miss her.x

We were at a Cliff Richard concert....and during one song, lots of crazy women from the audience ran up to the stage to give Cliff flowers/ presents/underwear!!!! My mum went forward with a flower...and gave it to Cliff. He said thankyou....and my mum said.."its not for you, its for your drummer". This got a cheer from the audience and a big smile from the drummer. x

Painting by John McGuiness. 1991.
